Service pricing guides

Every pricing guide answers two questions: what customers typically pay, with sources and the date we checked them, and how a small business should work out its own price.

How we build these guides

Prices for local services vary by region, season, job size and the business's own costs. We do not publish an "average price" unless a named source supports it, and every figure carries its source and the date we checked it.

  • What customers pay. Ranges from published sources, labeled with where they come from and when we read them.
  • How to price it. The cost-plus method behind a sustainable price: labor, travel, materials, overhead, payment fees and the margin you need.
  • A calculator. Where it helps, a free calculator runs the math in your browser so you can test your own numbers.

Need the underlying math for any job? Start with the job cost calculator, or read how we research.
