About
About SmallBizToolbox
We help owners of small service businesses choose and use software with less guesswork and fewer expensive mistakes.
What we publish
SmallBizToolbox is an independent publication about the software that small service businesses rely on: invoicing and payments, scheduling, field service management, CRM, accounting, estimating, payroll and workflow automation.
We write for the people who actually run these businesses: cleaning company owners, electricians, plumbers, contractors, freelancers and other local service professionals. Most of our readers don't have an IT department, and they don't have time to sit through a dozen sales demos.
What you can expect from us
- Practical guidance. Buying guides, comparisons and tutorials that start from real business problems, not feature lists.
- Transparent sourcing. We cite the vendor documentation and pricing pages we rely on, and we date our pricing checks.
- Honesty about our research. We only describe hands-on testing when it actually happened. We do not publish invented scores, test results or testimonials.
- Free tools. Calculators that help you budget, with their formulas and assumptions explained.
