Affiliate disclosure
How this site is funded, and how we keep that from influencing what we write.
Current status
At the moment, SmallBizToolbox has no active affiliate partnerships, and no links on this site earn us a commission. We will update this page, and add a disclosure to each affected article, before that changes.
How affiliate links work
An affiliate link is a tracked link to a seller's website. If a reader follows it and makes a qualifying purchase, the seller pays the publisher a commission. The price you pay is the same whether or not you use the link.
Our rules for affiliate links
- Coverage comes first. We decide which products to cover before considering whether an affiliate program exists. Products without affiliate programs are covered on the same terms.
- Commissions don't change conclusions. Our recommendations are based on our research, never on commission rates.
- Clear disclosure. Articles with affiliate links carry a disclosure before the first link, and the links themselves are marked as sponsored for search engines.
- No fake urgency or fake prices. We don't invent deals, discounts, or prices.
Advertising
We may also display advertising, for example through Google AdSense. Ads are labeled "Advertisement" and are selected by the ad network, not by our editorial team. Advertisers have no influence over our content.
Why we disclose
We believe readers deserve to know when a publisher has a financial interest in a recommendation. Our disclosures also follow the U.S. Federal Trade Commission's guidance on endorsements, which asks publishers to disclose material connections clearly and conspicuously.
